Career Start Funding (QLD only)

Adapt Education is an approved Skills Assure supplier for the QLD Government.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for a funded place you must:

  • Be aged 15 years or older
  • Not be a school student
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen.
  • Not already have a certificate III or higher qualification (including tertiary qualification) completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student do not count).
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification.

If you meet the criteria you will only pay the listed Co-Contribution fee listed for your chosen course.

Career Boost Funding (QLD only)

Career Ready Funding (QLD schools only)

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for a funded place you must:

  • be enrolled in a Queensland school in Yr10, 11 or 12
  • not be enrolled in a school based apprenticeship or traineeship
  • not have previously completed a qualification using VETiS funding
  • not be an international secondary exchange student
  • have a genuine interest in pursuing a post-school vocational occupation

If you meet the criteria and agree to use your one VETiS funded place the cost will be $0.

Career Start Apprenticeships and Traineeships (QLD only)

Apprenticeships and Traineeships are a great way to combine work and study. Earn while you Learn! Adapt Education is an approved Skills Assure supplier for the QLD Government.

We are approved to deliver Career Start apprenticeships and traineeship funded training to eligible QLD based Apprentices and Trainees in:

Additional Information for Career Start apprenticeships and traineeships

  • Apprentices or Trainees will pay a set contribution fee towards their training. This rate is set at $1.60 per nominal hour. The employer may choose to pay these on the participant’s behalf. Concessional rates and some exemptions may apply.
  • Under the Queensland Government’s Free apprenticeships for under 25s initiative, young apprentices and trainees under the age of 25 who select the Certificate III in Carpentry (a priority qualification) will not pay the contribution fee.

School Based Apprenticehips and Traineeships (QLD only)

Apprenticeships and Traineeships are a great way to combine school, work and study. Earn while you Learn! Typically a school based apprenticeship will consist of:

  • Work: 1 day work per week
  • Study: completion of a vocational qualification
  • School: completion of Yr11 & 12.

We are approved to deliver Career Start apprenticeships and traineeship to school based students in QLD. The following qualifications are available:

Additional Information for School Based apprenticeships and traineeships

  • You must be signed-up into an approved apprenticeship or traineeship contract
  • No Co-Contribution fees apply to School based apprentices and trainees.
  • You must be in Yr10, 11, or 12 to commence a traineeship. Ideally a school based apprenticeship or traineeship will be completed over 2 years however if your circumstances change (for example you are part way through Yr 11 or 12) a traineeship may still be a viable option for you.

Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships (Australia wide)

Apprenticeships and Traineeships combine paid work with structured training. You may be a full-time or part-time employee, a new or existing employee (note: for school based apprenticeships and traineeships refer to the VETiS Schools Funding section). Apprenticeships and traineeships require employers to enter into a training contract with the apprentice or trainee, which is a legally binding agreement to work and train together for a length of time.

Adapt Education can accept traineeship enrolments from anywhere in Australia for:

Course Fees: The listed Standard Course Fee will apply for Apprenticeships and traineeships.

Incentives

Employers may be eligible for incentives for employing an apprentice or trainee. This may include:

  • Priority wage subsidy (for carpentry apprentices only): up to $15,000 over 3 years.
  • Hiring Inceitves (traineeships): $3,500 for full time or $1,720 for part-time or school based.
  • Disability hiring incentives and Tax and WorkCover exemptions for apprentices.

Trainees and apprentices may also attract incentives such as:

  • Key Apprenticeship Program: Certificate III in Carpentry only – up to $10,000
  • Trade Support Loans to the value of $22,890 (includes 20% discount on amount borrowed for successful apprenticeship completion).
  • Living Away From Home Allowance
  • Travel and Accommodation Allowance
  • Youth Allowance or Abstudy

Centrelink Study Payments (Australia wide)

Many of the qualifications offered by Adapt Education are approved by Centrelink for a range of student study payments. If you are on a single parent pension, a carers pension, disability pension, NewStart and several others, you may be eligible for the Education Supplement ($62 p/fortnight for full time study for the nominated duration of the course) and/or the Education Entry Payment ($208 one off payment). To find out if you’re eligible for Centrelink study payments check their webite or call 13 24 90. For eligible participants to claim the education supplement, simply take a signed copy of your training plan (issued upon enrolment) into centrelink and attach it to the relevant centrelink form. Note: claiming Centrelink study payments often has implications on the timeframe available to complete your course. Please refer to the course outline to determine the applicable course timeframe if applying for Centrelink study payments.
