Information for Future Students

Thinking about Studying?

Before enrolling in a course you should ensure that you have read and understand all the relevant information for your selected course. This includes:

  • Course Outline – The course outline has critical information about the course including: entry requirements, units, government subsidies applicable to the course, duration, study modes, vocational placements and fees. The course outline can be downloaded from the relevant course page on this website. To find a course outline click on the relevant course from the menu above or click here.
  • Student handbook – this document contains all of the student policies and procedures that apply when you are studying with Adapt Education. This includes policies on complaints, payment, refunds, cancellations, etc.

We get it. It can be overwhelming trying to sift through all the information. Trying to work out which course, which provider, which study mode, will I get funding???

What Does Studying at Adapt Look Like?

  • When ever you’re ready – Enrol.  With no intake dates you get to nominate your start date.
  • Nominate a study mode that suits you. External study modes include online or correspondence. If you feel like you would struggle to progress with external study, check whether blended or classroom modes of study are available.
  • Receive a full course induction on commencement from a highly qualified and personable trainer. During the induction the trainer will take your through all of your course resources and assessments. You will receive advice and a range of strategies to help you hit the ground running.
  • Receive unlimited phone and email support throughout the course. You will be given your trainers mobile number and email address at the induction. Stuck on a question – give your trainer a call. Not sure if you’ve answered a question correctly – email a draft to your trainer for feedback. We’re here to support you.
  • Being a self-paced course you submit assessment when your ready (that’s right no due dates to stress about). We’ll have it marked within 10 days and give you plenty of detailed feedback. If there are any issues with your responses, we give you detailed information about where you went wrong and we will continue to provide feedback and support until it is correct. So no wasted money having to re-enrol into failed units.
  • Most of our courses involve a practical component. If you are not currently working in a relevant job role, you may need to complete a practical placement as part of your course. You can organise your own placement or Adapt can make the arrangements for you. Refer to the relevant course outline to determine if a placement is required and the number of hours to be completed.

Study Modes Explained

External Study Modes

What do our study modes mean? Self-paced study means that you can progress through the course at your own pace without the stress of assessment due dates and schedules lectures. Self-Paced students can enrol at any time during the year and will generally have up to 2 years to complete their course. Keep in mind that students receiving government incentives/funding may be required to complete their course in a set time frame – refer to the relevant course outline for further details. Below is a description of our common study mode options:

Self Paced Online study

Study from home or anywhere in the world! Access to interactive learning materials and video tutorials are just a part of Adapt’s holistic on-line training. On-line study is affordable and enables students to access more training resources that assist with the completion of assessment and their own professional development. Online training is suitable for people who want to study at times that suit them. Students who elect to study online are provided with a full course and online induction at the commencement of their course. Each online student is allocated an expert trainer to provide ongoing support throughout the course. Assessments can be submitted at any time with no locked in due dates.

Self Paced Correspondence

Correspondence training is a great option that enables students’ to study at times that suit their individual circumstances. This style of study is suited to those who are:

  • Geographically distant from Adapt education’s Brisbane office
  • Unable to attend workshops
  • Working full time and are undertaking study away from the workplace
  • Preferring to learn with hard copy resources as opposed to on-line resources
  • Not always able to be connected to the internet

Students who elect to study via correspondence will receive a portfolio including workbooks, study resources and assessments at the commencement of the course. All students receive a full course induction at commencement and are allocated an experienced trainer for ongoing support throught their course.

Classroom Study

Classroom study is a great option for those who are unsure whether self-paced study is for them and those who want to accelerate their learning. Typically, the classroom study mode will include:
  • a schedule of classes to attend – classes include teacher led learning, interactive group activities, completion of assessment items, practical components
  • Assessment – while most assessment is completed in class, some self-paced study may be required to “keep up” with the class
  • Duration – students may complete the course within the class schedule (for example 2 days per week for 20 weeks) however you will usually have up to 2 years to complete if needed
Classroom study enables you to network with others in the same course and maintains all the perks of self-paced study to ensure a stress free experience.

Blended Study

To maximise outcomes you may choose to add the blended mode of study to your enrolment. This may involve a combination of:
  • Face-to-Face sessions (one-on-one)
  • Classroom sessions
  • Self-paced correspondence training
  • Self-paced online training
Blended delivery ensures that there is a good balance of face-to-face contact throughout the course and can reduce the amount of written assessment required. It is ideal for those to struggle to progress without a classroom environment.
